North Carolina May Abolish State Taxes

North Carolina may abolish State Tax and what that means for North Carolina Residents:

Information obtained at,

Republican lawmakers in North Carolina are proposing to eliminate personal and corporate taxes.  This would mean that sales tax would go up and that some things that are not taxed currently will be, such as: lottery tickets, haircuts, housekeeping, dental visits, etc. The North Carolina senate leader, Phil Berger, says it is necessary to change the current state tax laws so that it will “modernize state’s tax code and kickstart a struggling economy.”  Democrats say that the proposed abolishment of the state’s income tax would hurt low income families the most.  The proposal is suggesting raising the grocery tax, which is currently at 2%, to 8% if it is past.
